Buenos Aires 14 October 2025 ecoSPIRITS has partnered with 1719co and one of Latin America’s leading bar industry figures to launch closed loop packaging for spirits across Argentina. Under their company name, 1719co, Patricio (“Pato”) Rio, and his business partner Lynne Wester, have teamed up with bartending legend Renato (“Tato”) Giovannoni as operators of ecoSPIRITS Argentina. Four locally-produced brands – created by Giovannoni – will initially be introduced in ecoTOTE™ format to bars across the country, while his globally-renowned Buenos Aires bar, Florería Atlántico, was chosen as one of the launch venues for the technology in Argentina. The country is the first in Latin America to launch the ecoSPIRITS system and the region’s first ecoPLANT™ will be hosted by Deakin Spirits Distillery in Martinez, Buenos Aires.

Argentina is one of the leading economies of Latin America, with a vibrant and diverse hospitality sector. ecoSPIRITS circular packaging technology will initially be introduced to venues in the capital city of Buenos Aires, known for its bar scene and many restaurants, which offer a wide range of local and international cuisines. The Argentina launch represents the first move by ecoSPIRITS into Latin America, paving the way for closed loop spirits in other nations including Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.

The launch event at Florería Atlántico featured a selection of sustainable cocktails and a gathering of industry leaders.
As one of the launch venues for ecoSPIRITS in Argentina, Florería Atlántico hosted an event in August that attracted journalists from high-profile national publications, radio presenters, local industry experts and hospitality-focused influencers. The famous bar was created in 2013 by Tato Giovannoni who wanted to showcase the history of Argentina and pay homage to his heritage and the pioneers who had come before him. The bar has always had a strong focus on sustainability including collaborations with farmers to cultivate local and indigenous ingredients. Uniquely, to get to the venue, visitors must first walk through a flower shop and then enter a giant refrigerator to step into the iconic basement bar.

“From our distillery in Mendoza, we carry the soul of the land in every bottle of Príncipe de los Apóstoles Gin. By partnering with ecoSPIRITS, we honor that: protecting our roots while pouring a better future, lowering our cost and waste. This partnership is more than innovation; it’s a love letter to our earth, our culture, and the industry. As a co-founder and operator of Florería Atlántico, it was an easy sell to us as a business. Lower waste, lower carbon, lower pour cost. We are proud to be one of the first bars to adopt it.”
Tato Giovannoni, producer of Apóstoles Gin
Giovannoni is a seasoned bartender from Argentina, who is considered to be one of the best bartenders in the world. In 2023, he was named ‘Roku Industry Icon’ as part of The World’s 50 Best Bars concept. His bar, Florería Atlántico, is one of the most awarded bars in the world and regularly features in the top 25 of the World’s 50 Best Bars List. The bar concept is now being expanded overseas, having already launched in Barcelona in 2023.

Tres Monos, considered to be one of the world’s best bars, and Tegui, one of the country’s leading restaurants, are two of the early adopters of the ecoSPIRITS technology in Argentina.
In addition to Florería Atlántico, a raft of Buenos Aires-based venues have already signed up as early adopters of the ecoSPIRITS technology in Argentina including Tegui, a highly-acclaimed restaurant known for its innovative, contemporary Argentinian cuisine; Tres Monos, ranked number seven in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, and famed for being innovative with its own spirits and for only sourcing strictly Argentinian ingredients; and the luxury Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires.
The first brands to go into ecoTOTE format in Argentina are all local spirits including two gins: Principe de los Apóstoles Mate Gin and Apóstoles Gin Rosa Mosqueta; Pan Vodka, an Argentine vodka distilled with 100% wheat; and the vermouth-style drink, Chola Fernet.

Principe de los Apóstoles Mate Gin
This premium gin, distilled in the famous wine producing province of Mendoza, is made using yerba mate, pink grapefruit, eucalyptus, peppermint, and juniper. The brand is currently sold in 18 countries and is now the leading premium gin from Argentina.

Apóstoles Gin Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip)
This is the pink gin variant of the Apóstoles brand. This limited edition fragrant and slightly fruity spirit is made with the addition of rosehip petals grown in Patagonia, at the foot of the Andes mountain range. Other botanicals include pink grapefruit and coriander.

Chola Fernet
A vermouth-style drink, from the Jujuy Altiplano. This aperitif is 100% local and is made using botanicals, which have been hand harvested at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. It is typically mixed with cola, a popular drink in Argentina known as Fernet con Coca.
The brands will be packed into ecoTOTE format at the country’s first ecoPLANT No. 056, which is based at Deakin Spirits Distillery, a young distillery in Martinez, Buenos Aires, which has a strong focus on the environment. The company, famed for its James Deakin Gin, has won awards at the Carte’Or World Spirits Awards. Deakin Spirits Distillery is headed up by Simón Venghi, master distiller and owner.

“Launching ecoSPIRITS in Argentina isn’t just a business move, it’s personal, it’s a bold leap towards a more sustainable future for all Latin America. This is a shared dream come true, and we’re honored to lead the charge. We’ve seen firsthand how this model empowers companies to showcase their sustainable practices, while cutting costs, and delighting conscious and/or curious customers.
Sustainability isn’t just the future; it’s the competitive edge today’s venues need. We are proud to bring it to Argentina, and we invite others to join us and be part of the revolution.”
Pato Rio and Lynne Wester, owners of 1719co

“We are exploring ecoSPIRITS as a way to elevate our sustainability efforts. Its closed loop system could help us reduce waste, simplify logistics, and align with our commitment to responsible luxury – while maintaining the high standards our guests expect.”
Juan Gaffuri, Director of Food & Beverage, Corporate Chef LATAM, Four Seasons Buenos Aires

“In the kitchen, we craft with intention. Starting with ingredients, where they come from how they are produced, how they are packaged, all the way to plating it to our guests. That’s why technology like ecoSPIRITS arriving in Argentina sounds like a great step, specifically for our colleagues at the bar as it brings a similar mindset to the bar part of our business. In my mind, this is a great moment for those of us who believe sustainability and waste management to be implemented where possible.”
Germán Martitegui, owner and head chef, Tegui

“The arrival of ecoSPIRITS in Argentina is great news in a country where cocktails have been growing in recent years. It’s truly a good solution for bartenders on a daily basis.”
Charly Aguinsky, co-owner, Tres Monos, Buenos Aires

Zdenek Kastanek, managing director, ecoSPIRITS North America
“Having worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I had the chance to travel the world and witness firsthand other countries’ practices, and let me tell you, sustainability is one habit that our beautiful country is missing.
At Deakin Spirits Distillery we’ve been working on sustainable practices for years and helping ecoSPIRITS Argentina’s arrival is a key step to continue paving the way for a greener future in the cocktail industry.”
